The 2016 Philanthropy Day awards will be presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter (AFP NEPA) on Friday, November 18, 2016 at The Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel.  Coffee and networking begin at 11:00 a.m. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. Each year AFP NEPA honors individuals and organizations that, through their tireless work and dedication to philanthropy, have improved the quality of life in our community and around the world.  This year’s honorees include: 

  • Lifetime Achievement: Former First Lady of Pennsylvania, Mary L. Scranton, posthumously
  • Outstanding Corporation: WNEP
  • Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy: OurDash 
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: Magdalen Benish
  • Outstanding Philanthropist: Sondra and Morey Myers

Feb 15 - Associate VP for Institutional Advancement, Sr. Director of Development & Campaign
The Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Senior Director of Development & Campaign (“AVPIA”) has two primary responsibilities: (1) planning and managing the day-to-day operations of the fundraising/development component of IA; and (2) planning and managing the College’s campaign-related efforts and functions. The AVPIA will also manage a selective group of benefactors/prospects in his or her own portfolio. The AVPIA will provide leadership and direction to a team of fundraising professionals and will be responsible for developing and implementing professional processes and practices in all areas under his/her responsibility. The AVPIA will also be responsible for providing ongoing team management, including goal setting (team and individual), performance evaluations, and professional development. Important responsibilities include establishing annual plans and goals that include clearly defined metrics to measure success. The AVPIA will also work with the College’s marketing team to develop and implement messages and themes for successful fundraising efforts.
